Had a great meeting tonight at the SF5Together group. Because Jay the President wasn't feeling well, as VP I ended up leading the discussion. We had 'board elections', which was basically a shift around of the offices of the dedicated leaders who've been doing the work for the past few years. The illustrious Cheryl Brodie from SFNA was elected President, I maintained at VP, Richard Magary from BVNA (lives in D8, yet still dedicated enough about issues to be a part of close by D5!) as secretary, and Joan Downey from CVIA continuing as Treasurer.
We had Joe Caruso and Joe Flood come and give updates on their work with the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services. With all the cuts from the previous staff, they're reeling from the workload... I wonder if that whole system will stay in place. Joe C mentioned past talk of closing MONS and giving each Supe another aide. That actually sounds like it might make sense. (surprise, I'm suddenly interested in this staffing idea!)
A couple candidates moseyed in throughout the meeting as well. It's interesting to see what the other candidates are saying to try and connect with the people of D5. Sure would be great if all these candidates keep on being concerned and involved in district issues as time goes on. We could use the help.
