Went to a great event last night, a fundraiser for the Center for Progressive Leadership, in a private home up above the West Portal muni stop. Former Secretary of Labor in the Clinton Administration Robert Reich was the *star* speaker. Very eloquent, passionate guy. Someone I was talking to before the thing got underway said they thought he was the best progressive speaker they’ve ever heard, and I’d tend to agree.

One interesting thing about it was how the place was full of politically aware, involved, intelligent people, none of whom I’d ever seen at any city level stuff before. I’m certainly not putting them down for being focused on the national level instead of the local, but it was just unique to NOT know people in the room. Actually, Sup. Sandoval’s aide Judson True was there, but he was the only one I knew before that night.

Anyway, three cheers for these national progressives thinking long term about leadership and training.
